The employees’ names, Social Security numbers and other information were on a laptop computer that was stolen in August.

The USPS Sr. Vice President General Counsel Mary Anne Gibbons sent out a letter dated Jan. 9, 2008 to postal employees and retirees saying that on Nov. 21, 2007 Postal Service received notice ofthe theft of a laptop computer belonging to Advanced Solutions Group (ASG), a division of IKON Legal Document Servies. The theft occurred on Nov. 19, 2007. Files stored in the computer contain your personal information, including your name and social security number. Local law enforcement authorities were immediately notified and Postal Insepctors are working with those authorities on this investigation. ……
